Al Hassan Engineering Company has been selected to provide temporary facilities for Petroleum Development Oman's Saih Nihayda gas field depletion compression project (SNDC). Al Hassan has been contracted by South Korea's GS Engineering & Construction, a leading international engineering, procurement and construction contractor of South Korea. Al Hassan will provide civil building works and 132 kV overhead line works for phase one of SNDC.In December 2009, Petroleum Development Oman awarded a contract for the SNDC project to GS Engineering & Construction, which will also undertake the de-bottlenecking of the existing Saih Nihayda Gas Processing (SNGP) plant. In turn, GS Engineering & Construction has selected Al Hassan as their sub-contractor. The Saih Nihayda field in central Oman has been producing gas since the SNGP plant was commissioned in early 2005 by Al Hassan in a joint venture company with a major international contractor.Gas from the field is treated at SNGP from where it enters the government gas grid. The installation of the new compression facilities will enable Petroleum Development Oman to maintain required pressure levels for the SNGP plant for several years. Moreover, the de-bottlenecking of the processing plant will increase its capacity from the current level of 20 Mcm/d to 25 Mcm/d. "We are extremely happy to have successfully secured this contract for the temporary facilities and other works for the SNDC project," said Peter Hall, CEO of Al Hassan Engineering Company. "The SNDC Project builds on our significant reference list in the oil and gas sector." - Gulf News
